But what effect does this have on today’s workplace? Currently, 74% of older workers say that employers aren’t doing enough to recruit them, which, coupled with declining birth rates, is causing economists to predict a demographic ‘time bomb’. As more people age and retire, future generations will struggle to meet the needs of employers - unless something is done soon. To understand how employers and employees are adapting to the prospect of an ageing workforce, we spoke to HR decision makers and over 1,000 UK workers over the age of 55.
